On 17 March 2024, Giulia Bosi, a postdoctoral researcher in International Law at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, discussed the role of the EU in global health governance from a legal preparedness perspective with Prof. Giacomo Di Federico at the University of Bologna. After presenting the current global health law normative developments, she explained how the COVID-19 pandemic has led to the emergence of an EU-leading position in global health policy.

On 12 March 2024, Emanuele Cesta, a lawyer at Agenzia Italiana del Farmaco, discussed the new EU pharmaceutical legislation with Prof. Giacomo Di Federico, and Miriana Lanotte, a postdoctoral researcher in EU Law, made a presentation on the EU perspective on the role of legal preparedness in the management of health emergencies.

On 14 October 2024, the event ‘Health Emergencies and Legal Preparedness: A Comparative Perspective’ took place at the University of Bologna. The conference had two main sessions. The first regarded Australia, China and Canada. The second concerned the United States, the African Union and the European Union. The meeting was also followed online. Speakers included Prof. Federico Casolari, Prof. Giacomo Di Federico, Prof. Emanuele Sommario, Prof. Marco Rizzi, Ms Deng Xiwen, Dr Candice Ruck, Prof. Aleceste Santuari, Prof. William Sage, and Prof. Ben Twinomugisha.

On 24 June 2024, the event ‘Health Emergencies and Legal Preparedness in the EU: Taking Stock of the Post- Pandemic Reforms’ took place at the University of Bologna. During the event, experts provided an institutional and academic perspective on the recent EU reforms in the area of health. The meeting was also followed online. > PRIN PROJECT KICK-OFF MEETING (October 2023, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna)
The project had its kick-off meeting on 13 October 2023 with a one-day session with researchers from Sant’Anna and the University of Bologna, and external experts potentially interested in being associated with the project, at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna. During the meeting, participants discussed the key aspects of the study and the first steps to be taken. A final event will be held in 2025 to present the key outcomes of this project.
